Anxiety and autism can go hand in hand. Causes are numerous, but there are ways in which you can reduce anxiety for your child/young person with autism. Everyone suffers from anxiety however some children/young people on the autism spectrum experience such high levels of anxiety that it restricts their access to everyday activities such as school, birthday parties outings with their families and social events. This workshop will help with identifying potential causes of anxiety that manifest in children/young people with autism. Strategies that can help parents and professionals working with those on the ASD spectrum to alleviate anxiety will be discussed.
Target Audience: Parents of children diagnosed with Autism, under suspicion of Autism or related disorder. Professionals from both the statutory and voluntary sector supporting children/young people with autism and their families.
PEAT has been delivering Autism Intervention, Support and Training across Northern Ireland for 20 years.
